These earrings feature hand enamelled discs of 14mm in diameter. The flower motif was inspired by the 1600s Delftware designs influenced by Asian porcelain artists. It was painted into the enamelled discs using the Limoges technique of fusing several layers of very finely ground glass ‘paint’ onto a white enamel background. This technique requires in excess of half a dozen firings and takes many hours to complete.
The earrings are made from sterling silver, with a gold rim surrounding the enamels, gold posts and heavy gold scrolls.
The silver has been given a patterned finish and the gold has been polished in contrast. The finished earrings have been initialled and dated by Adrian Ashley.
