Enamelled gold and silver pendant with a hedgehog motif and natural diamond.

This pendant features a hand enamelled disc of 14mm in diameter. T
The hedgehog motif was inspired by the 1600s Delftware designs and influenced by plate illustrations in vintage natural history books. It was painted into the enamelled discs using the Limoges technique of fusing several layers of very finely ground glass ‘paint’ onto a white enamel background. This technique requires in excess of half a dozen firings and takes many hours to complete. 

The pendant is made from a sterling silver plate, with a gold rim surrounding the enamel, gold jump rings and a gold tube setting holding a bright, brilliant cut, natural, mined diamond, that measures 3.4mm in diameter. It is F/G colour, and SI clarity

The silver has been given a patterned finish and the gold has been polished in contrast. The finished pendant has been initialled and dated by Adrian Ashley.

A 50cm (20 inch), silver trace chain will be included with this pendant.

Notes on enamelled jewellery:

Enamels are best treated as if they are opals, pearls or other more delicate jewels.
These enamels cannot be easily repaired, so they should be treated as dress jewellery and not worn whilst engaging in sports or performing active tasks.
