Love Bug pendant. Enamelled silver beetle necklace.

This pendant features a silver beetle design that was cast from a hand carved master pattern. The beetle's thorax and wing cases are made from enamelled plates decorated with a hearts design.
The design was painted into the repaired enamel surface using the Limoges technique of fusing several layers of very finely ground glass ‘paint’ onto a white enamel background. This technique requires in excess of half a dozen firings and takes many hours to complete. 

The recesses of the silver beetle have been given an antiqued finish with the highlights polished to form a contrast. 

This enamelled beetle measures 2.5cm (one inch) in length.
A 50cm (20 inch), silver trace chain will be included with this pendant.

Notes on enamelled jewellery:

Enamels are best treated as if they are opals, pearls or other more delicate jewels.
These enamels cannot be easily repaired, so they should be treated as dress jewellery and not worn whilst engaging in sports or performing active tasks.
