Grey wolves (Canis lupus), are found in various guises throughout remote areas of the Northern Hemisphere. They have been an essential element in the folk law and literature of almost all cultures and ages.
She-wolves are the epitome of maternal protection and feminine strength, they were particularly prevalent in Roman legend and also the title given to England’s war-like medieval queens.

The gold wolf is made from 9ct gold that has been given a high-carat gold coating. It measures around 2cm from the tip of its nose to the tips of its ears (2cm is a little over three quarters of an inch). It has eyes made from natural, cabochon cut, 2.5mm peridot. The wolf has been given a Hallmark from the Assay Office to prove that it is made of gold.
The gold wolf has been hung from an elegant, 18 inch long solid gold chain. This pendant is supplied in its own gift box.

To create it I have utilized some of the most up-to-date technology alongside some of the oldest skills still used in jewellery and goldsmithing. The original was hand carved from wax before being digitally scanned and resized. It was cast in solid gold which was then reworked, for several hours, using traditional Goldsmiths' tools, to produce a very fine detail.
To emphasize the details of the carving, the pendant was given a part polished and part satin finish.
