Gold plated silver Weedy Sea Dragon pendant and chain © Adrian Ashley
The Weedy or Common Sea Dragon is one of three species of Sea Dragons - relatives of the seahorse and pipefish.
These unique and spectacular creatures have small leaf-like appendages that resemble kelp fronds, providing camouflage and small pectoral fins on either side of the neck, which provide balance.
This pendant is made from sterling silver that has been plated with 22ct gold.
It is hung from an elegant flat trace chain, that catches the light, and is fitted with a sturdy clasp. The chain is also made from 22ct gold coated sterling silver and is adjustable from 43cm to 50cm (17 to 20 inches).
During the gold plating process, gold molecules are bonded to the surface of the silver. The jewellery is then given an E-coating (also known as electrophoretic deposition), to help protect the gold.
How long any gold plating will last depends entirely on the wear and tear exacted on the jewellery by its owner. But, given a little care and attention this piece should keep its gold colour long into the future.
Every piece was designed in the United Kingdom where the original master patterns were carved by hand.
Jewellery from the Argent Aqua range is either assembled and finished in our own workshops, or by a Sedex registered production partner, who have proven that they take their social and environmental responsibilities very seriously.
Wearing a piece of Adrian Ashley’s jewellery identifies you as someone who loves the ocean or the great outdoors. My silver jewellery is made from solid Sterling Silver (silver with a purity of at least 92.5%). It does not contain any lead or other harmful materials.
I do my best to insure all materials have been sourced responsibly and I always price my work honestly.
