The elusive, secretive lynx can be found living deep in the most remote wildernesses of Europe, Northern Asia and North America. Unsurprisingly, this powerful and mysterious creature has a prominent role in Celtic, Slavic, Norse, and North American folklore and is known in some Native American traditions as the 'keeper of secrets'. The lynx also has a mythical reputation for seeing through falsehood and discovering the truth. This is thought to have inspired the “Academy of Lynxes", one of the world's oldest scientific societies.

This sterling silver lynx measures 2.5cm, or one inch wide. Without its solid silver chain it weighs approximately 13g (which is a little under half an ounce), and has eyes made from natural, rose-cut 4mm Yellow Chalcedony gemstones. The silver lynx has been hung from a sturdy 22 inch long chain with a substantial clasp. This pendant is supplied in its own gift box.

Gold versions of this pendant can be made on request.
To create it I have utilized some of the most up-to-date technology alongside some of the oldest skills still used in jewellery and silversmithing. The original lynx was hand carved from wax before being digitally resized. It was cast in solid sterling silver which was then reworked, for several hours, using traditional Goldsmiths' tools, to produce a very fine detail. To emphasize the details of the carving, the silver lynx was given an antique appearance by oxidising and then satin finishing the pendant. The whole piece was then coated with a layer of clear lacquer to help preserve the colouration.
