The Great Crested Newt (Triturus cristatus) also known as the northern crested newt or warty newt, is the immediately recognisable, big, largely terrestrial, newt species found across Northern Europe and Western Siberia.

These newts are under threat due to habitat destruction through ‘green field’ developments or intensive agricultural methods. They are now listed as a European Protected Species.
As great predators of slugs and many other invertebrates, Great Crested Newts can be very useful to farmers and gardeners. Their presence is also a great indicator of a healthy water source.

These solid sterling silver newt pendants have been cast from a hand-carved master pattern.
The newt measures 2.2cm, or a little under an inch across, and has an ethically sourced, brilliant-cut diamond for its eye.
