A solid gold portrait of the enormous, magnificent birds who spend their long lives soaring amid the mountainous seas of the southern oceans. With recorded wingspans of over 12 feet Albatrosses are one of the world’s largest birds.
Yachtsmen and women skilled enough to sail in the high southern latitudes have recorded these giants following their boats for days on end. In days of old the albatross was seen as a fellow traveller, another 'Christian soul', by lonely sailors. They believed the albatross brought good luck for the crew and symbolizes the delicate balance between man and the ocean.

This Albatross is made from solid 18ct gold. The albatross measures slightly over 5cm - which is two inches.
It can be supplied with either an adjustable cord or a 45cm long 18ct gold trace chain.

The 'grey' albatross shown in some of the pictures is the original, hand carved, pewter master pattern used to make the gold pieces. The ‘stick’ visible on the bottom of the master pattern, in some of the pictures, is a sprue that the molten gold is poured through during production. (it will not be visible on the finished pieces).
