Among the largest fish in the ocean, with a wingspans of up to 7 metres and weights exceeding two tonnes, mantas are harmless filter feeders.

Although long lived and highly intelligent, mantas are horribly threatened by overfishing. Fortunately, keeping them alive for tourism is far more lucrative for local economies, and swimming or diving with manta rays, is now the highlight of many peoples’ tropical holiday.
